A privately held company supporting a portfolio of operating businesses.
Rampant owns and operates a small group of businesses in technology, communications, and specialized services. Each company is run by its own leadership team. Our job is to support those teams and to be a stable owner for the long run.
How we operate.
Long-term horizon
We own the companies we own with no preset exit. Decisions are made on a decade scale, not a quarterly one.
Operator-led
Each company is run by its own leadership. Our role is to support those operators with capital, governance, and counsel — not to manage from above.
Structural discipline
We build and acquire businesses with durable advantages, clean economics, and a culture of consistent execution.
Operational excellence
Good businesses are built one quarter at a time. We invest in the systems, people, and standards that make execution repeatable.

Joel Long, Founder.
Joel founded Rampant to hold and build the operating businesses he had spent his career running — most notably the advisory practice now known as Rook and the communications business now known as Propel.
His focus is practical: support the people running each company, make the few decisions that belong at the parent level, and keep the structure simple enough to stay out of the way of good operators.

A lion rampant, with a cross crosslet.
A heraldic lion in the rampant posture — upright and ready — paired with a small cross crosslet at its flank. Together, a quiet statement of intent: upright, watchful, durable.
